Smackdown 4/9/10

This week's episode of WWE Smackdown started out by filling in the fans that may have missed last weeks episode, RAW this Monday and Superstars yesterday about the new World Heavyweight Champion the all American speech impediment cashing in his money in the bank and beating Jericho. After this Swagger came out and started talking about deserving to be a champ, prompting John Morrison to come out and make fun of his speech impediment and preceding to call Swagger lucky. I smell a rivalry, as the two face off in singles competition showing off both superstars athletic ability. Apparently the WWE has adopted a new policy to clean up blood during matches to keep the match safe, which brings to mind which WWE superstar has a blood born disease. The two continue to have an entertaining yet low paced match but it does however drag out into a boring over drawn match as Swagger hits his signature gut wrench powerbomb and defeats Morrison by pin fall.

After coming back from commercial Shad formerly of Cryme Tyme came out and talked about something I actually didn't know about because I missed last week's Smackdown, that being that Cryme Tyme is broken up hopefully this will be the beginning of his serious singles career in the WWE as he is a talented performer. I also think that it would be beneficial to have a Shad/JTG feud as the two have great chemistry in the ring.

The next match up of the night featured the Intercontinental champion, the chosen one Drew McIntyre pitted against the ever underrated Matt Hardy. As the heart and soul of Smackdown takes control early and having absolutely no problem getting the crowd behind him, the tide turns as the Scottish superstar becomes the aggressor. Ultimately it was McIntyre who was the victor winning by pin fall after doing the Future Shock DDT on Hardy outside the ring and rolling him back in.

The Straight Edge Savior CM Punk in his home town of Chicago comes out with Luke Gallows and Serena members of the Straight Edge Society. Punk attempts to pledge his NXT rookie Darren Young into the Straight Edge Society, Young decides not to join the SES and as Punk and The Society attack and attempt to shave Young's head Rey Mysterio comes out and saves the jungle hair of Darren Young. Rey also accepts CM Punk's challenge for a match at Extreme Rules in which if Punk loses he will have his head shaved, building one of the best rivalries going right now up even further as they approach Pay Per View.

After this we get to see some of WWE's tag team action between The Dudebusters (Trent Barreta and Caylen Croft) and The Hart Dynasty (Tyson Kidd and D.H. Smith) with Natalya. In this match we see a great example of the new generation of WWE superstars with high impact moves and a fast match pace. This match just displays 4 athletes who show a very promising future in the ring. The Hart Dynasty came up victorious after D.H. Smith(the son of Davey Boy Smith) submitted barreta with the Sharpshooter as made popular by his uncle Bret Hart.

In one of the coolest WWE promo's in a while Dolph Ziggler put Josh Mathews to sleep after being asked how it felt to put The Great Khali to sleep last week.

In the main event of the night Edge and Jericho have a match to see who gets a shot at Jack Swagger's World Heavyweight Championship at Extreme Rules. The two have as good a match as you can have on smackdown with a thousand commercial interruptions. The match ends in a double count out meaning no one knows who will face Swagger at Extreme Rules.

It comes to no surprise to me that it was almost a complete chore to watch the entire show and type this review with the least amount of bias possible, it is safe to say that as far as the WWE goes this week Superstars was the best show. This is sad as in Superstars is only an hour long and they put their undercard/midcard guys on there, step it up WWE.
